"Light shaped by hand. Space shaped by meaning."

ARTIST IN PRACTICE

Craft Gardens is an artistic studio where textile becomes sculpture and light becomes presence. Founded by artist Marta Ramada Leite, the practice explores the emotional, spatial and material potential of fibre — transforming regenerated materials into luminous artworks that inhabit space with intention.

Rooted in contemporary craft, biophilic design and slow creation, Craft Gardens conceives each piece as both artwork and experience: a dialogue between material, light and the human relationship to space.

WHERE TEXTILE BECOMES LIGHT

At the core of the practice lies a simple question: How can material hold emotion?

Through layered tassels, chromatic rhythm and sculptural composition, Craft Gardens transforms textile into atmosphere — where light is not merely functional, but expressive.

Each work is developed as a spatial gesture: fibre becomes movement, colour becomes energy, and form becomes presence. Rather than decorating interiors, these pieces inhabit them, creating environments of contemplation, warmth and sensory connection.

A SUSPENDED TRADITION, REINTERPRETED IN THE PRESENT

The artistic practice of Craft Gardens emerges from a deep dialogue with Pajaki — traditional suspended sculptures from rural Poland, created since the 18th century using simple materials such as straw, paper and thread.

More than decorative objects, Pajaki were symbolic structures: made to celebrate cycles, invite prosperity, and bring balance and protection into lived spaces. Suspended in the air, they inhabited the home as living presences — constantly moving, responding to light, air and daily life.

At Craft Gardens, this heritage is reinterpreted through a contemporary language, where textile, colour and light become sculptural matter.

Tradition is not reproduced — it is translated.

REGENERATIVE MATERIALS. CONSCIOUS CREATION.

Sustainability is not an afterthought — it is part of the artistic language. Craft Gardens works primarily with ECONYL® regenerated fibre and natural materials, embracing regeneration as both process and philosophy.

By transforming discarded material into sculptural light, the practice redefines value: what was once waste becomes presence; what was invisible becomes luminous. Creation is slow, deliberate and tactile — every tassel shaped by hand, every structure assembled with care.

A BIOPHILIC APPROACH

Inspired by natural systems, organic rhythms and cultural craft traditions, Craft Gardens adopts a biophilic approach to design. Each piece is informed by cycles of growth, transformation and balance — echoing gardens, seeds, seasons and light as living phenomena.

This is not nature as motif, but nature as method: rhythm, layering, repetition and emergence become structural principles within the work.
